Here’s an initiative I think is worth getting behind. You may know Sarah Proietti as the host at Maybe Sammy in Sydney, or from stories such as this one.

But Sarah is also a passionate advocate for women in hospitality, and as part of the Maybe Cocktail Festival taking place this week — it starts Monday, check out the timetable here — she has teamed up with Margarita Sader, co-owner of Barcelona bar Paradiso, to put on Women In Hospitality on Sunday 13 April from 12pm to 3pm.

As Sarah explains, the format is the work of Margarita, who has been running this event in Barcelona for the last four years.

“I was lucky enough to be part of it last year in Barcelona, and I found it incredibly inspiring and positive,” Sarah says.

“That experience really sparked the idea to bring in more meaningful formats to our Festival 2025, not just classic masterclasses and guest shifts, but something deeper that adds real value to our industry.”

The talks will be hosted at Prefecture 48, and will feature women from some of the world’s best bars talking about “leadership, mentorship and the evolving role of women in hospitality.”

And thanks to Campari Academy’s support, they’ve also set up a scholarship for one rising woman in hospitality, who will win an experience like no other, with an all expenses paid internship at two bars on The World’s 50 best Bars list: Sydney’s Maybe Sammy, and Barcelona’s Paradiso.

It’s a huge prize, one that I’ve no doubt will open more doors to the winner.

So get involved — the details are below.
